Hi, sweet friends! This (and every) Sunday Sweet Edit I hope you’re having a wonderful weekend. Our fall adventures continued yesterday with a trip to the pumpkin patch. It was the perfect day for it – sunny and 60’s. You know those days when you just know…this is it. These are the days I will miss one day? It was that.

on the pocasts…

If you love true crime, this episode is for you. First, Jay talks about what the ballot test results are telling us about the Dem’s midterm chances. (That’s not the true crime part. Ha.) And then… we talk about the Netflix’s new show Monster : The Jeffrey Dahmer Story and our childhood connection to a serial killer. Yeah. It’s creepy.

The One With The Matrix and Jock Jams Brand New Information

Today, Jay and Suzanne revisit the deep messaging and allegory in 1990s media with The Matrix and… Jock Jams. Plus – It’s May Day! Jay reminisces about the adorable May Day Baskets of our youth and Suzanne marks the anniversary of when George Mallory’s body was found on Everest 75 years after his fateful climb. Follow Jay on Instagram & Twitter, and Suzanne on Instagram!

My mom is on the podcast! She’s a (recently retired) therapist who specializes in substance abuse and addiction, so I thought she was the perfect person to come on The Sober Mom Life. We talk about how the conversation around alcohol has changed in the past 20 years, and she shares her personal sobriety story….

Overcoming the Push and Pull of Addiction with Juliet Warner The Sober Mom Life

Juliet Warner’s road to sobriety began at age 20 with her first stint in rehab for opiate addiction. For 8 years, she was in and out of rehab and treatment facilities as she struggled with the push and pull of addiction. At 28, her sobriety solidified when she committed to the steps in AA. Yet, she always wondered – would she be able to drink ‘normally’ someday? Alcohol hadn’t been central to her addiction, after all. Alcohol slowly but surely found its way into Juliet’s life eight years later through mommy wine culture. After 9 months, a major mental health slide, and more blackouts than she felt comfortable with, Juliet realized that alcohol was a drug just like all the rest… and one that was no longer welcome in her life. Juliet now shares her story of motherhood and sobriety and is dedicated to helping others on their sober journeys.
