Hi, sweet friends! I took a break from The Sunday Sweet Edit last week, but we’re back today! A lot to catch up on… I hope you have a wonderful week!

on the podcasts…

You have two episodes to catch up on! Herschel Walker’s campaign is in trouble bc he’s a hypocrite (WHAT) and Kim K is a…crypto gifter. Whoa.

Last week, Jay brought us up to date on the Wisconsin Senate race and why it’s not looking great for the Dems. (Sorry, Mom.) Also: Kanye west needs to be cancelled.

The One With OJ Simpson and Dead Duck Day Brand New Information

Today Jay and Suzanne commemorate two infamous 1990s events – OJ Simpson’s Ford Bronco slow speed police chase and… Dead Duck Day? Plus, on this week’s Fibronostalgia – Did you know you could break a Hypercolor shirt? Jay and Suzanne know, because they did! And Suzanne’s fibronostalgia breaks the fourth wall to examine the meaning that nostalgia has in our lives. Follow Jay on Instagram & Twitter, and Suzanne on Instagram!

SO MUCH GOOD STUFF on The Sober Mom Life! I chatted with Dr. Brooke Scheller about what alcohol does to our minds, bodies, hormones, gut health… literally EVERYTHING. Then I talk with Casey of The Hello Someday podcast! We talk about how damn hard new motherhood is (and she shares THE funniest story about her husband and I’m sure he loves that she’s made it public LOL).

Finally, our Real Sober Moms bonus episodes are here! It’s like The Real Housewives, without the booze and craziness. 🙂 We kick it off with Jayme – if you don’t relate to hitting rock bottom, you will love her story.

Standing Confidently in Your Sobriety with Sydney Allen The Sober Mom Life

Sobriety and parenting writer Sydney Allen was still in her 20s when she chose sobriety. She hadn’t had a rock bottom. She hadn’t experienced all of the terrible things that could happen with alcohol. Yet she could still tell – her gray area drinking was unhealthy, and alcohol was going to take more and more away from her if she continued to drink. So, she cut it out of her life in 2022. Explaining her sobriety to her friends and family, though? That felt like a challenge. People didn’t understand. She didn’t look like she had a problem… why did she need to quit? Today, Sydney shares how she navigated her emotions and the emotions of others through the different stages of her sobriety, why boundaries and honesty have been instrumental to solidifying her sobriety in a way that uniquely fits her, and the things she loves to do (and doesn’t love to do!) in sobriety. Plus – Sydney is our first Gen Z sober mom on the show (we’re spanning generations here)! We’ll talk about how Gen Z drinking culture differs from the other generations and her experience of still being quite young as she navigates sobriety.  Read more from Sydney on her Substack, This Is Not Okay. I’m here for all black all the time, and these overalls are PERFECT without feeling too big or too baggy.
